About Us
Mission Statement The organization will be operated  exclusively for educational and non  profit purposes, and shall be limited  to those purposes permitted by  Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal  Revenue Code. Preserve and present the heritage  and history of railroading in the  United States, particularly the Pacific  Coast Railway, San Luis Obispo’s  own narrow gauge railroad. This  shall be accomplished through the  collection and public display of  model railroad layouts, educational  materials and educational  presentations, and related  documents, artifacts, and  equipment. Enlist public support in model  railroading activities through  cooperative layout construction,  group operating sessions,  educational instruction and the  establishment and maintenance of a  permanent space for group model  railroading activities which is open to  the public. Promote and support the model  railroading hobby on the Central  Coast of California through the  maintenance of an official website,  publication of a newsletter, and the  production of an annual train show. Provide a point of contact for  potential members, organizations,  the public and interested parties to  connect with the local model  railroading community.
About the SLOMRA   This group was originally incorporated  as the SLOMRC back in the early  1990’s. In 2006, we were restructured as a non-profit organization. Since it’s re-  structing, we have attempted to meet the goals of our mission statement in new  and interesting ways. We are governed by our bylaws, click  the link HERE to read them. It is a .pdf  file and your computer must be able to  read it. Visit the site www.adobe.com for  more information on .pdf files. Our group maintains a substaining club  membership with the National Model  Railroad Association (NMRA) and has  assisted with local NMRA events.  Because of our location, we are part of  the Pacific Coast Region of the NMRA.  We also work closely with the Central  Coast Railroad Festival to add the  modeling of trains to the interest of all  rail fans. We continue to educate and train our  members in all aspects of railroading  through monthly meetings, train related  events and other opportunities. Although we incorporate any scales  members might want to exhibit, the  majority of our modules cover HO and N  scales. We are open to other scales and  in the past we have had temporary  setups of G, Fn3 and O scale at our  shows.  Members also host work sessions in  their garages. Phil Lawyer usually will  host members who live in northern  Santa Barbara county and Stuart Young  will host those members that live in San  Luis Obispo county.
