March 2009: SLOMRA members provide instruction to local Boy Scouts to help them earn their Railroading Merit Badge.
December 2008: 40 Nipomo Elementary 2nd graders took a field trip to the IOOF Hall in Arroyo Grande to see the historic building, photographs, and SLOMRA model railroad displays. They were treated to a presentation about the Pacific Coast Railway history by SLOMRA Superintendant Dennis Pearson.
May 2008 Club Meeting: Chuck Ellison provided SLOMRA members and guests with his hands-on tree making clinic. This "make and "take" was enjoyed by all, and now we all know Chuck's secrets! Above: Chuck guides Christina Keating and Bruce Lewis creating awesome pine trees.
In 2008, the SLOMRA, with the assistance of local author and historian Loren Nicholson, visited The Village at Sydney Creek Alzheimer's & Dementia Care Community.
